Spring is finally among us! Old Man Winter is slowly letting his grip on weather fade and spring is popping up all around us. We can finally shed our winter coats and our attitudes start looking up, spring really is a rebirth for all.
The greatest thing about spring is all the great produce that finally becomes “seasonal”, cheaper and easy to find in our local farmer’s markets. Here in Montana we still have unfortunate snow days, but our local farmer’s market will be starting soon! Cooking and baking with spring ingredients can be so inspiring. With temperatures rising and the sun staying up late, quick, easy and light meals are what we tend to turn to. This is the time to enjoy sweet juicy strawberries, fresh green beans, crisp asparagus, tangy rhubarb plus the addition of such herbs as chives, mint and tarragon. When shopping local for our food the advantages are endless. Our food is fresher and more nutritious plus we help the environment and our local farmers and small business.
